The Research Center for Moral Education in Universities at Tsinghua University was founded in November 1999. In September 2000, the review team of the Education Ministry accepted the Center as one of the “One Hundred Key Research Bases of Humanities and Social Sciences under Education Ministry”. The Center became the first key ministerial research base in the field of humanities and social sciences at Tsinghua University. The Centre, insisting the guidance of Marxism and relying on the support from the Center for Marxism Research at Tsinghua University, puts the priority on undertaking key research projects and making important scientific achievements. The Centre has kept its pace with the changing domestic and international situations and pays close attention to the demand of higher education. With the goal to become one of the best bases of its kind in China, it always sticks to high standard scientific research in ideological theory studies.

　　The ultimate goal of the Centre is to become an opening, flexible, high-qualify national key research base in humanities and social sciences with its own characteristics. In the near future, the Centre aims to become a think tank, a hub of information and human resources and a platform for academic research, academic exchange, internet information, education and training in China. The “three promotions” it aims to realize are: to promote students’ moral quality so that it can have a lasting influence on their overall quality; to promote teachers’ moral quality and professional standard so that they can assume the historical education responsibilities better; to promote the moral education level in Tsinghua and to help improve the moral quality of the whole nation.

　　Until now, there are 36 experts have worked in the Centre and most of them are experts in this profession with outstanding accomplishments. After some major reforms with the scientific research institutions, the Centre has become an open, efficient, flexible, united institute with dynamic academic atmosphere and thus set a model to other humanities and social science bases in Tsinghua University.

　　associations;
　　research on the countermeasures to economic globalization and college
　　ideological and political education;
　　new system of ‘ideological and political theory’ course;

　　The present director of the Centre is Professor Zhang Zaixing, associate directors are Associate Professor Wang Wenshu and Associate Professor Liu Taoxiong.
