The Teaching Section for Courses in Ideological and Political Theories at Tsinghua University is a functional management branch of SHSS, responsible for curriculum reform and construction for Courses in Ideological and Political Theories open to undergraduate and graduate students.

　　Currently, there are 65 faculty members, including 23 full professors, among whom 14 are qualified to Ph.D. supervisors.

　　The courses “The Essentials of Marxist Political Economics” and “Mind, Morality, and Personal Growth” were awarded the Excellent Courses among the universities in Beijing, and the Excellent Courses in China in 2004; The course “The Essentials of Marxist Philosophy” became the Excellent Course among the universities in Beijing in 2003.

　　The Essentials of Marxist Political Economics, a model textbook for universities in Beijing, won the second prize in the 7th competition for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Beijing. An Introduction to Marxist Philosophy, Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Mind, Morality and Personal Growth were rated the Excellent Textbooks in the universities in Beijing in 2004. The courseware of The Essentials of Marxist Political Economics won the second prize in the teaching software competition held by the Ministry of Education. Mao Zedong and China in the 20th Century won the first prize in Tsinghua University textbook competition in 2004.

　　The research paper Research-oriented Teaching Concept and Practice for Courses in Ideological and Political Theories won the first prize for outstanding achievements in classroom teaching in the institutions of higher education in Beijing in 2004. “Innovation on the Concept and Method to Improve the Teaching of ‘the Principles of Marxist Philosophy’” and “On the Reform of the Course ‘Mind, Morality and Personal Growth’” won the second prize in Beijing higher education teaching competition in 2004.

　　In 2003, Tsinghua University, having successfully passed the inspection and being appraisal by experts from Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, became a key unit in Beijing for the Promotion and Demonstration of Courses in Marxist Theory and Mind, Morality, and Personal Growth. In 2005, the Teaching Section for Courses in Ideological and Political Theories was appraised as the leading unit in moral education in the institutions of higher education in Beijing.

　　Currently, Professor Ai Silin is the director of the section, and Professors Zhao Jiaming and Cai Lesu are deputy directors.
