SHSS has a group of outstanding scholars. Currently, there are 238 on its faculty, including 98 full professors, 99 associate professors, 40 lecturers, among whom 80 are Ph.D. Advisors. Four people are on Tsinghua One Hundred Scholars Project, twenty people on Beijing Social Sciences Evaluation Committee, and five people on the National Committee for Evaluation in Social Sciences. Two faculty members are among the Yangtze River Scholars specially appointed by the Ministry of Education.

  

  

In the past few years, SHSS has been granted about 200 different kinds of awards by provincial governments and ministries of the central government for advancement made in science and technology and for many other kinds of achievements in teaching and research. 3 people have received funding from the National Funds of Social Sciences, and 6 people took the awards for outstanding achievements made in research in the humanities and social sciences in Chinese universities. A case in point is Professor Li Xueqing of SHSS who was awarded the title “Significant Individual with Outstanding Contributions to the National Key Research Projects in Science and Technology of the 9th Five-year Plan,” and so far he is the only scholar in the humanities and social sciences throughout China who has received such an honor.
